that was my facebook update yesterday morning…. I was just in the mood… however by the time I finished answering emails, bookwork and other mundane tasks for the day there was not enough time to ‘make’ a quilt. So instead I made a cushion and promised my FB friends I’d show them here today..

I had a bundle of fabrics from Lloyd Curzon IMG_5340

– I think they were ColorWorks Premium Solid from Northcott and I had already stitched an embroidered panel some time ago to match them.

Now I will admit I had already made a different colour version of this cushion so this was a double test of the pattern before it heads off to a magazine but this time the colours were perfect for a birthday gift this weekend.

I was one fabric short so a random piece of ‘shadowplay’ filled the gap. Add some always useful white and we were away..

So it was to the machine I went…I stitched, I cut, I pressed and I stitched…

I sashed, I basted and I quilted…IMG_5346 All free motion just an easy no mark continuous curve designIMG_5347

until tada…..

we had a finished one of a kind cushion – all in a couple of hours (well with the embroidery pre-done of course)IMG_5353

No, not my usual colours or look but fun to do and I have been finding my embroidery designs heading towards a more modern feel lately as there are so many wonderful inspirations around to suit bringing embroidered stitches to simple understated styles that will suit our homes of today.

This was my other colourway – yes one day you may find this in a magazine..

now, I have another bundle of fabrics from someone you know well – very different again… mmmm what should I make with them…?

I shall put my thinking cap on… did you make anything today?

hugs
