Well I, Helen Stubbings, am just a normal country girl who grew up ‘making’... I am the designer behind the brand Hugs 'n Kisses and now the owner of Quarter Inch also. These businesses have grown simply from a pure love of stitching. With no formal art education, no university degree but a drive and passion that has brought me to here.I publish books both myself and with Landauer Publishing; Design fabric for Red Rooster Fabrics; I’ve helped design threads for Cottage Garden hand dyed threads and Lecien Cosmo Seasons ranges; I teach for Craftsy and at many shows, stores and guilds around the world. I’m also a ‘Friend of Bernina’ -machines which I’ve sewn on for over 20 years. I consider myself to be so lucky to be doing something I love.
In 2016 we saw a huge expansion - finally getting my house back- and moving to a new location,opening a retail shopfront, cafe and learning centre in Hobart, Tasmania and more exciting things in the future.
And now I'm also learning how to make coffee and provide a place for the creative community to come together, gather, feel safe, feel inspired and feel motivated to live life to its fullest.
Here at Quarter Inch we have our retail quilt store stocking all of the Hugs 'n Kisses patterns, fabrics and products along with so many other items we think you'll love.Fabric suppliers include Moda, Free Spirit, Robert Kaufman, Red Rooster, Tilda to name but a few... All great quality quilting cottons and substrates for perfect results.Alongside we have everything you need to make your projects including haberdashery supplies, threads, papers, stabilisers, battings, findings and more.We are very proud to say we are the only Australian stockist of the complete range of Kona Solids.

Tattooed Nun is all about contrast and balance. On one hand as a black it offers the ultimate guilty pleasure – rich with buttery caramel flavours and a dark chocolate finish. On the other hand, add milk to the mix and you will be presented with a much more controlled and smooth experience. The only question is which one will you choose? Molasses, dried raisin, stone fruits, dark chocolate, creamy mouth feel, mild acidity, pecan, vanilla, heavy body, juicy.
We also offer yummy Chai and Hot chocolates to tempt the most discerning chocolate lover (as I am a chocolate drinker - not a coffee drinker so this is my indulgence - I get to taste test them)

and a range of light lunches, sweet treats and homemade cookies - including healthy and not so healthy options.
We have a book swap in our cafe for community and cafe users. Please feel free to read, borrow or swap
And we are a puppy friendly cafe - with a fully fenced pooch playground, tie points, water bowls and doggy treats. Your pals are welcome to join you on the verandah as you have coffee & cake also.
Of course we also cannot forget our LEARNING CENTRE - the Shed! We offer classroom space for any groups who like to meet socially and stitch, regular WEEKLY CLASSES and special project workshops with local and visiting teachers.
